So one of my favourite bands ever, Man Overboard, is giving away 15 of their songs for free! All you have to do is click the link and go. They’re pop punk and a great time to listen to.

If you’re looking for tracks in particular to check out, I’d recommend: “World Favorite”, “Love Your Friends Die Laughing”, “Atlas”, “Dead End Dreams”, and “Rare.”

So, one of the bands I moderately enjoy ever, Man Overboard, are selling a 15 song sampler for $0.00! You still have to go through the checkout, you feel like you’re buying something, and you can’t help but wonder; if you entered a discount coupon in the available field would you make money?

Probably not. It’s worth a try I guess.

You should, however, all get on top of this while it lasts.

The Fall on Deaf Ears’ EP

Post-hardcore from El Paso, featuring Cedric Bixler Zavala on drums, with highly powerful backing female vocals, everybody in this band sang. Laura and Sarah, who Napoleon Solo is dedicated to, sang in this band. Energetic as ATD-I, get it if you like them

I’m going to be a bit sneaky here, but I don’t think this is a free release. However, I imagine that Cedric would prefer people remembering Laura and Sarah, and learning to understand At the Drive-In’s place in music, to trying to snake as much money as possible out of this mostly obscure EP.

Oh man remember the ’90s.

Jughead’s Revenge has all of their albums up for download, for free, on their website.

While I don’t think I was old enough to be a fan of Jughead’s Revenge in the 90s (a decade which I remember fondly, regardless of it’s lack of punk tunes for me), this download was a defining find of the 00s for me.

I had a couple of stray Jughead’s songs floating around, possibly rips off my sister’s collection, but I liked them; then one day I almost accidentally, through the seven degrees of who-ever-the-fuck-it-is-these-days, clicked right onto their site. I almost pissed myself when I saw it was all free.

The good kind of pissing myself. Not the bad kind.

There is a good kind, right?

Punch Drunk Still - Malaise

I can’t think with so much noise about my head
I can’t think when you’re leaving and I don’t know where
I can’t think with motion sickness punching my decision with stillness

Shit, this is poetically unfair
Sleep doesn’t bring any consolation
Time ticks for words that ring in chorus in bed
Thicker skin only grows on the tips of my fingers

This is still one of my favourite songs ever.

Mix CD - March 2012

A post from my personal blog regarding what I’m currently listening to in the car. Not all free music, but definitely stuff that is worth checking out, with a few free downloads thrown sneakily in at the end.

Alternative

1. Sunburn
2. Fix of Mine
3. Fly Solo
4. Don’t Lose Your Cool
5. The Feeling
6. Keep Dreamin’
7. Pleasantries

I haven’t listened to Diamond’s EP long enough to have an awful lot to say about it, so if you come here exclusively for intricate commentary on the ups and downs of bands and albums then you’re probably following the wrong blog. We just share good, free music. Which, of course, being here and all, this is.

Don’t Lose Your Cool is a mature radio-friendly alternative album that I found after having the word free shoved in my face (almost literally, it was in all Caps, the internet equivalent of punching you in gonads while shouting). Though, much unlike being punched in the gonads, I could almost consider this easy listening.

So wind down to crunchy fuzz guitars and soothing vocals. Eat an apple. Watch the sunset.

Do you remember the sunset?

My band Worn Colors [Facebook // Tumblr] just released a new demo, check it out?
Worn Colors : Diana Moon Glampers

Who needs recording quality, am I right? This track is actually pretty infectious despite all the qualities that would usually turn someone off. I can’t actually tell if I like the guys voice, or if it’s bad enough to just be interesting to listen to. Regardless, it’s worth at least a listen.

Good Morning downloads.

Good morning. Today I slept in. I’ve only just woken up and it’s nearly lunch time, and I’m not sure how I feel about that.

You don’t care about that. No, of course not. You’re here for the music! Well, rather than a review or just one reblog, trolling music download tags has come up with a few nifty releases, which my half awake ass will share with you now (I mean ‘arse’, I don’t own a donkey - Ed).

Violent Future - Demo 2012

Violent Future are a hardcore punk band who really capture the 80’s hardcore sound and vibe, right down to the recording quality. In fact, if you had played this to me at a party I probably would’ve mistaken it for an 80s record, and you would have held elite punx dominion over me. What I’m trying to say is that fans of 80’s hardcore punk will love this. Click here to download it from Mediafire. - (via madcowboydisease

Wiltz - Wiltz

You all know I have a serious boner for math rock, so you could imagine my squeal of glee when I checked out a download that was tagged as “post rock” and it just turned out to be instrumental “fiddlecore” math rock. Very nice. Click here to download it from Bandcamp. - (via bbird190)

Easpa Geag - We Hate You South Dublin Bastards (track)

When you hear “mash up”, hell, even when I hear the term “mash up”, we automatically think of pop songs being through together. Maybe an original twenty second electro part thrown in under Rhianna and Gaga’s vocals, all the while a beat from a mid-90s pop song pounds in the background. That kind of thing. I totally forgot that mash ups can be made with taste, and flair, and not just songs that get the party started. Thankfully, Easpa Geag didn’t forget this, and has made for us this polite little number using samples from bands such as The Boomtown Rats, Stiff Little Fingers, and Nurse With Wound. michaelsmusicalmind:

“Graveyards”, the first single off of alaska’s upcoming EP, palcaptain, finds the emotional hardcore group moving away from the bass-heavy atmosphere found on their demo in favor of a cleaner, more fluid sound best compared to that of La Dispute. Palcaptain is set to drop March 27, but “Graveyards” is now available for free download over at alaska’s bandcamp page.

I’m not sure I enjoy this trend of comparing every “emotional hardcore” group that happen to have twiddly guitars and spoke-shouted lyrics to La Dispute. Sure, those are things that alaska and La Dispute do have in common, but they are so  very different in approach that the comparison comes off apples and oranges.

palcaptain isn’t so much as a move away from their 2011 demo as it is an improvement in quality, and if you’re only just finding out about alaskaGraveyards” is a great place to start.

After that, you should easily get into their demo as well, both of which are free for the cost of your email address from their bandcamp.

William Bonney - Good Vibes

Hate/Life album art

William Bonney
Midwest Emo

1. Leather Empire
2. No Pizza
3. Good Vibes
4. See Ya Later
5. Good Vibes
6. Monsters

The midwest, we’re taught rather early on in Skramz School For Emotional Children, is an area where passion is handed out freely to kids with guitars and drums (and bass’ as well, I suppose). Due to this remarkably area-sensitive, selfless gift to the triad of possible players, we’re gifted with bands like William Bonney

Worth every second, this post-Merchant Ships group, are catchy, energetic, have a decent variety in screams each equally has heavy, and keep it traditional to their roots; great in every sense — so I’m glad to say I’ve found you a free download link sitting in their last.fm description (What an amazing discovery, Indiana! However did you come across that? - Ed.).

You can’t really trust last.fm, but since it also states that William Bonney are busy growing up, I’m sure they won’t mind me sharing their words and hurts with you right now.
